How studying abroad can lead to moving abroad

In October 2009 I moved to Barcelona to study Leisure and Tourism Management at European University.

Prior to this, I had no knowledge of Barcelona as I had never visited. Armed with basic tourist information I began my own exciting relocation. Spanish wasn’t mandatory at my university, luckily I was able to do all the programs in English. Though I really wanted to understand the local culture and people in my new home. In the evenings I began taking a Spanish course and started to have classes in my spare time.

In Barcelona, a new interesting world opened up in front of me. Suddenly, I had expatriate and local friends from all over the world. Immersed in a completely different environment, living amongst a whole different culture. I grew a newfound appreciation of friends despite our many differences.

I never really got back after I graduated from university. While writing my thesis I went to Castelldefels for an internship at a hotel. Once I graduated, I then worked in Engel & Völkers Sitges and Oi Realtor Barcelona both local real estate companies. After getting to know the local market and having much success with these companies. I decided along with a business partner to open our own real estate agency. Through moving out of this company I was able to start Delonix and provide a more personalized and tailored service to my clients. Thanks to the wide experiences and contacts gained during the years working in real estate and tourism, I can now help you in your journey to relocate to Barcelona.
