Where to eat paella in the center of Barcelona?

EL PORTALÓN

A traditional Spanish restaurant founded in the 1890s, located in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, famous for its delicious Mediterranean cuisine and specializes in Catalan homemade dishes. Apart from mind-blowing paella, you can also try red tuna Tartar “Balfegó” with tomato and avocado, fried eggs on top of baked potatoes, Spanish sausages, omelet with mushrooms, veggies, and salmon, and the spicy Siscu bomb.

CUINES DE SANTA CATERINA

Perfect place to have a Spanish-style lunch or dinner after exploring the market of Santa Caterina, the restaurant offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine using a creative approach. Among best-sellers are fried calamari, shrimps, octopus with baked potatoes, and multiple variations of Paella. An absolute must-have is fried artichokes and big green spicy olives. And don’t forget about the wine! The restaurant is conveniently located in the Old Town near the Cathedral of Barcelona.

CAN GANASSA

Even though this Catalan restaurant is located in one of the most touristic areas of Barcelona in Barceloneta, it still offers the best seafood from the local markets including fried sardines, shrimps, calamari, and seafood paella. Apart from seafood we recommend to try tortilla de patatas and pimientos de padrón. Very convenient for lunch or dinner after spending time at the beach.
