Non Lucrative Visa Spain

If you’re thinking about moving to Spain but don’t plan to work, the Non Lucrative Visa is a great option. This visa is perfect for retirees or anyone who wants to live in Spain long-term without needing a job. It allows non-EU citizens to stay in Spain as long as they can show they have enough money to support themselves.

What You’ll Need for the Non-Lucrative Visa:

  1. Proof of Financial Stability: You must prove you have enough income or savings to live comfortably in Spain. Currently, you need to show at least €28,800 per year for the main applicant, plus extra funds for each dependent.
  2. A Valid Passport: Your passport should be valid for at least one year beyond your visa application date and must have at least two blank pages.
  3. Private Health Insurance: You’ll need full health coverage from a Spanish provider, with no co-pays. It should cover all your medical expenses while you’re in Spain.
  4. Clean Criminal Record: You’ll need a criminal record certificate from your home country, issued within the last three months.
  5. Medical Certificate: A doctor’s note stating that you don’t have any contagious diseases or health risks as per international health guidelines.
  6. Proof of Accommodation: You’ll need to show where you’ll be living in Spain, such as a rental contract or proof of owning property.

How to Apply for the Non-Lucrative Visa:

  1. Prepare Your Documents: Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork, including proof of funds, health insurance, criminal record, medical certificate, and passport. All documents should be translated into Spanish and authenticated, if needed.
  2. Submit Your Application: You’ll apply for the visa at the Spanish consulate in your home country. Make sure your documents are in order before submission.
  3. Wait for Approval: It can take between 1-3 months to hear back. Once approved, you’ll get a visa allowing you to live in Spain for up to one year, with the option to renew.
  4. Register in Spain: Once you arrive in Spain, you’ll need to register as a resident, get a foreigner’s ID number (NIE), and apply for a residency card.
